19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
